Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Coronavirus

What is a coronavirus (COVID-19)?

Coronavirus

Coronavirus COVID-19 is a new virus that was temporarily named 2019 novel coronavirus “2019-nCnV” is derived from the Latin word “corona”, which means crown or halo. Coronavirus was first alerted by WHO on 31 December 2019, in Wuhan City, Hubei providence of China.

After one week (7th Jan 2020) Chinese authorities confirmed that they identified a new virus named coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses may cause a range of illnesses to humans and animals from the common cold to severe acute respiratory infection.

Coronavirus

Viruses divides into DNA viruses and RNA viruses. DNA viruses are Pox, Herpes, Hepadna, Parv., Pap., adena and RNA viruses are Toga, Flavi, Retro, Corona, Delta, Arena, Bunya, Filo, Robdo, Orthomyxo, Paramyxo, Picorna, Calici, Hepe, Reo. So coronavirus is from RNA family.

In China, where most cases are it's older people , who are affected by Coronaviruses ending up in the hospital with this. They are usually at the age of over 40 and the very youngest person diagnosed with this the virus is about 13 or 14 years old. So, it doesn't appear to be affecting small children and those who have died tend actually to have underlying conditions , as they say, they may have heart disease or cancer already and so they are vulnerable, basically their immune systems are not very robust and they're going to find it very hard to fight off a virus.

We have only just discovered that the new coronavirus is actually transmitted from one person to another person. It was hoped at first actually that it just came from animals, as all coronaviruses do. But now it looks as though it is actually passed from one human being to another.

Coronavirus symptoms or How to identify Coronavirus?

Coronavirus

Coronavirus may cause a range of illnesses to humans and animals from the common cold to severe acute respiratory infection. As a new virus, the means of transmission is not yet fully understood by the authorities . But some evidence indicates the following.

  1. Droplets from the patient during sneezing or coughing.
  2. Touching the patient's stuff or services and objects contaminated with the virus (viruses can last for up to 48 hours on objects).
  3. Direct contact with the infected person. The possibility of transmission from infected animals like dogs, cats, and camels.
  4. The main signs and symptoms for corona infection are fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath and in some cases diarrhea and vomiting.

At this moment, there actually isn't any treatment of coronavirus at all, because this is a virus, antibiotics won't work that, they only work against bacteria, not viruses. So, all of you really want to know antiviral treatment, but none of the flu drugs that we've got, we have got a couple of those will work on this.

A coronavirus is different from a flu virus, so there actually isn't any treatment at the moment at all as per the research authorities. This one is scary because it is a brand new virus, so we don't know how it's going to behave?
